INDIA- A land of intense spirutuality and religious faith is reflected with abundant temples. Temples of India are found everywhere from large monument structures to small stone caves, each having its own speciality and significance and influencing the lives of people who regard the temple as the place of God
In vedic periods, there are no temples. The main object of worship was fire that stood for God. Temples in South India have different styles than those in North India.
The earliest temple structures were not made of stones or bricks, which came much later. In ancient times, public or community temples were possibly made of clay with thatched roofs made of straw or leaves. Cave-temples were prevalent in remote places and mountainous terrains
India has rich cultural and historical heritage well preserved in its temple architecture and pilgrim sites. From the majestic Himalayan ranges in the North, to Kanyakumari in the South, there are thousand of shrines, worship places and temples in India dating back to hundreds of years.
